Branding and making money for Scout Shops. My kids like the colours and designs, and so do lots of others. Makes a change from formal uniform, but still provides an identity.

Obvious isn't it?

Just a brand really. Another way of promoting Scouting, but in a way that should appeal to the younger generation.

If the official reply is any different, they've clearly spent our money well

My Scouts all want my grey i.Scout hoodie. The most popular item in the range is.... adult sizes only!

It appears to be HQs way of quietly dropping the Uniform without the backlash doing so official would result in.

I have no problem with it being available for people who want to wear it as casual wear but it annoys me when HQ seem to insist on people making media appearances, publicity stuff etc wear it rather than uniform.

My Explorers love them so much that they've personalised them (bonus points for correct font!)

At the Shelterbox challenge, I saw the Kent Explorers version - basically same colour green, purple lettering, etc. but instead of i.scout it was we.scout, we.paddle etc, with the strapline there is no i in Scouting its a team. I liked it, and thought that it gave a better idea of what we are trying to do.
With apologies to Kent Explorers if I have got it wrong.

Talking of kent explorers- if you get chance to see their mess tent it is lush! Don't know if anybody knows the price to print a mosquito net thing but it looked pro! Good job guys!

I keep getting told by my group that we are 'not allowed personalised hoodies' as they give the wrong impression?!?

Things like the i.Scout stuff are lost on us round our way. We have no shops that sell them so most of the YPs don't know they exist.

We have tried punting Unit fleeces but nobody was interested.

It's even better when you have the domain names:

i-scout.org.uk
we-scout.org.uk

hahaha!!!!! couldn't believe they were still available!!

It's just a shame that the hosting company wiped both the actual sites out when it went down!

Well we'll be giving the wrong impression then - I've just taken delivery of personalised hoodies for most of our leaders!

I've never heard that before - would be interested if someone could confirm?

Until then (and probably afterwards too) I think we'll just keep giving the wrong impression.

It does make me smile when I see some of the kids wearing them 'in their own time' - one uses it for his paper round!

The fact that you have to buy them with your own money pretty much means you can do with it whatever you wish!!!

These items are not official uniform - therefore personalise them to your hearts content! What can your group do? It would be like the group trying to dictate what coats and jackets they are allowed to wear! I would tell 'group' to whistle!!!
