GSL/DC Days

Hi Wayne, just read on your blog about the forthcoming GSL/DC days so I looked up the details on ScoutBase

I don't know if Brighton is in South East (East) or South East (West), but either way, I'm looking at about 6 hours total travel time and £30+ for fares (assuming train tickets stay the same price they are now).

I know that HQ resources are limited, and you can never please all the people all the time, but Slough and Maidenhead are pretty much at the extreme ends of the South East region, leaving those of us in the middle with no realistic option.

Perhaps those of us who won't be able to attend could be emailed the briefings/presentations etc for the days, so we won't feel left out of the loop?

Quote:
These are important and exciting events for DCs and GSLs. Ask yours if they are attending, and if not, why not!
Because it's too far away and I can't afford the train fares!

Hi Duncan,

Why not share a car with a nearby GSL and do the journey in 90 minutes? I know that several Districts and Counties are organising transport also - ask your DC and CC.

We recognise the size of the South East England Region, which is why we are holding two there, others are only getting one - you can choose which you attend (quick look at Google Map suggests they are equal distance from Brighton). The locations were selected for most convenient travel options etc. I suspect many of our colleagues have to travel 90 minutes for meetings routinely.

So, the challenge is still there Duncan and I hope to see you at one of them.
Take care,
Wayne

OK, I've asked CC and DC and every GSL in the district - will let you know how it goes!

Good luck - it really will be worth the trouble to attend.

County aren't doing transport (lack of interest in the past combined with geography of the county), but I have found another GSL from District who's going to the Slough one, so hopefully see you there.
