How about any!!! I have a big problem with scouts and scouters who are going to a studio for interviews, formal public interviews and public ceremonies where uniform IS the correct dress, yet still doesn't get worn.

All that said, as soon as the Scout Association pays for my uniform, I'll wear what ever they give me. Until then, I will do my best to look smart, suitably dressed and appropriate. I will expect my mob to do the same - and no more. I do this for fun, the uniform is just a small part of the game

I'm with you on this one and with a YSP in the house the phrase "surely you're not going out looking like that" takes on a whole new meaning
The last interview she did (not yet screened) cried out for uniform, but no, they wore i-scout.

I like the iScout wear, it identifys me as a Scout outside of Scout time and gives me scout wear for activity periods and non formal occassions. It's something that identifies us as a modern, relevent orginisation and is doing something to get rid of all the old stereo types of Scouting.

Even my own partner who is a Royal Navy officer and therefore quite a formal person in dress and the way of doing things likes the brand and is considering getting himself one of the hoodies when he comes on board as an assistant leader (he's also a former cub and scout from many years ago) so that must be something of an achievement to reach someone like him as well.

When it comes to the formal stuff I have my scout shirt for that and wear it with pride

I saw some pictures released today: http://www.scouts.org.uk/news/316/20...-badge-winners

only one picture had kids in uniform :-( and one of them still has his centenary badge on!!
but the kids in the other pics with iscout gear and neckers on did look very smart, it might not be "the" uniform, but at least when they all wear it, it loooks good. Maybe I'm coming around to it :-)

The way I see it is that this is the sort of situation where the uniform should be worn. If the official uniform isn't the image we want to portray then the uniform should officially change.

Told you so
- how can the YP present badges, yet not themselves wear the uniform on which they are sewn!

I think this should be a question for Wayne ....

How on earth can we call ourselves a uniformed association when the official line seems to be - don't worry about it.

Either scrap the uniform or make it compulsory! What is the point in us at grass roots level trying to instill discipline and insist on uniform?

OK, question asked, let's see the official line.

They both also have the now old style participation (year) badges on. With the one on the left having it in the wrong place!

As a matter of interest, This is in the 1959 POR:

276. Whenever uniform is worn in public it must be correct and complete.

277. Members of the Movement may at the discretion of the Scouter in charge, wear any convenient clothing in camp, but whenever they appear in public outside the camp limits, they must be in proper uniform.

Although, of course, that has no bearing on those who are members of TSA and use their version of POR.

There are many quotes on uniform, but their association makes their rules just as our respective associations decide our own.
